Senior Software Engineer
BIMproFIT
Full-time
Antwerp, Belgium
About BIMproFIT
BIMproFIT is a deep-tech spin-off from the University of Antwerp, automating MEP (mechanical, electrical & plumbing) design for non-residential buildings, starting with HVAC ductwork.
Despite modern design software, duct design is still done manually. Space constraints, conflicting requirements, and late-stage architectural changes force engineers to repeatedly redesign layouts from scratch, a process that typically happens multiple times across both engineering consultancies and contractors before a building gets built.
We’re changing that.
BIMproFIT is a SaaS plug-in for Revit, the world’s leading BIM platform, that automatically generates clash-free, practically feasible ductwork designs directly from a building model, in minutes. Engineers can optimise for installation cost, energy use, or total life-cycle cost, delivering up to 70% time savings at every stage of the workflow. We’re a small technical team with proven technology and early customers.
The Role
You’ll join BIMproFIT as a Senior Software Engineer, working directly with the founders on a product that’s already showing concrete market traction.
This is a hands-on C# / .NET role covering Revit add-in development, cloud backend architecture, and REST API design. You will have real ownership and direct impact on how the product and company evolve.
We're looking for someone who:
-
enjoys solving complex engineering challenges across geometry, optimization, and cloud,
-
is comfortable working without all the answers handed to them,
-
and wants to help build a company, not just write code.
If you're looking to build something from the ground up and shape its direction, this is that opportunity.
What You’ll Do
Product Development
-
Lead end-to-end development of the BIMproFIT Revit add-in and cloud architecture backend
-
Translate product specifications into well-structured, maintainable code
-
Own the backend API layer connecting the Revit front-end to the cloud-based optimization engine
-
Drive authentication, data persistence, and multi-tenant architecture decisions
Technical Leadership
-
Define and enforce coding standards, architecture patterns, and review processes
-
Work directly with clients to understand how they use the product and feed that back into technical decisions
-
Identify and manage technical risk proactively
Infrastructure & DevOps
-
Set up and maintain CI/CD pipelines, cloud hosting, and deployment workflows
-
Ensure the system is reliable, scalable, and secure for commercial deployment
-
Own the evolution of our APIs, introducing new versions and changes while maintaining backward compatibility for existing customers and integrations
Collaboration
-
Talk to customers, understand their workflows, and translate that directly into better product decisions
-
Work closely with the founding team to shape the technical roadmap
-
Work with Revit engineers and domain experts on BIM-specific constraints
Our tech stack
-
C# / .NET for Revit add-in development (Revit API)
-
Python for the core optimisation engine
-
REST API connecting the add-in to the cloud backend
-
AWS
What We’re Looking For
Must-have
-
5+ years of professional software development experience with strong skills in C#/.NET
-
Experience with REST API design and cloud-hosted backend services (ideally AWS)
-
Proven ability to own and ship a product end-to-end
-
Comfortable working in a small team with high autonomy and accountability
-
Professional English speaker
Nice-to-have
-
Experience with Revit add-in development (Revit API, C#)
-
Familiarity with optimization algorithms or computational geometry
-
Familiarity with BIM environments, Revit API, or AEC-domain software
-
Knowledge of MEP engineering workflows or openBIM/IFC standards
-
Experience in an early-stage startup or academic spin-off environment
What We Offer
-
A technically hard problem at the intersection of computational geometry, graph optimisation, and cloud engineering, with a clear path to market
-
Real ownership: your architectural decisions will shape the product for years
-
Direct access to the founding team, with deep domain and research expertise in MEP engineering and BIM
-
Opportunity to grow into a technical leadership position as we scale, with a say in hiring, team structure, and how we build
-
Competitive salary
-
Flexible hybrid working, with co-working space access in Antwerp
-
Accelerator resources through imec.iStart (Antwerp)
