To make this possible, we're building our Task Execution System: a hybrid neuro-symbolic AI platform combining explainable AI, symbolic reasoning, perception and touch intelligence. By bringing together ontology-driven reasoning and modern AI, the system enables robots to interpret tasks, model their environment, generate skills, actively perceive their surroundings and execute precise movements.
Your role
As one of our early Computer Scientists, you'll help shape this platform from the ground up. You'll work alongside experienced founders and robotics experts, turning cutting-edge ideas into robust software that powers robots in real manufacturing environments.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing, implementing, documenting and formalising software architectures for multi-agent robotic systems, including low-latency and real-time sensor-based control systems as a special boundary case.
- Designing, implementing, documenting and formalising automatic code generation tools.
- Integrating your work with other components of the Task Execution System, collaborating closely with colleagues responsible for symbolic reasoning, robotic motion control, and the development of applications and products.
You ideally have experience with:
- Developing professional-grade software on Linux using industry-standard open-source tools and practices. You understand the difference between a professional software project and an experimental one.
- Building low-latency, secure applications in C/C++ and integrating them with Python processes, web technologies and robotic systems.
- Working with compiler technologies, including intermediate representations for code generation and model-to-model transformations, and understanding where technologies such as WASM can support robotics systems.
- Building embedded, "headless" systems with multiple processes and threads, shared memory buffers, and lock-free/wait-free implementations.
- Debugging and monitoring embedded and distributed systems using tools such as Linux Trace Toolkit LTTng.
- Designing and deploying multi-agent architectures across distributed hardware, including monitoring, fault tolerance, hot swapping of software components, and understanding the implications of distributed computing principles such as the CAP Theorem and Fallacies of Distributed Computing.
- Designing low-latency streaming solutions and selecting appropriate frameworks based on technical requirements (e.g., Zenoh, WebRTC, Media-over-Quic).
- Writing clear technical documentation using semantic HTML.
