Senior Software Engineer
Nuclivision
Why Nuclivision
Nuclivision is a fast-growing medical imaging software startup based in Ghent, Belgium. We are transforming nuclear medicine through AI-powered solutions that make it safer, more efficient, and more accessible for clinicians and patients alike.
Founded in 2022, we empower nuclear medicine physicians to optimize their workflows with Nuclarity, our state-of-the-art and regulatory certified AI software that enhances PET image quality. With up to 50% faster scans and up to 50% lower radiotracer doses, Nuclarity enables higher patient throughput, reduced operational costs, and improved patient safety, all without compromising diagnostic accuracy.
Nuclarity integrates seamlessly with both on-premise hospital systems and secure cloud infrastructure, delivering fast, scalable, and reliable PET image enhancement across diverse clinical environments. Our in-house AI researchers are already building what comes next.
Role Overview
As a Senior Software Engineer, you'll own a broad slice of the Nuclivision platform, from cloud infrastructure and AI inference pipelines to backend services, DICOM connectivity, and the reliability systems that keep everything running in real clinical environments. You'll work directly with the CTO and across engineering, product, and clinical teams to scale our platform across Europe and beyond.
This is a high-ownership, high-impact role at the technical core of a MedTech startup. You won't be handed a narrowly scoped ticket queue , you'll help define how we build and operate.
What You'll Do
- Design, deploy, and scale the Nuclivision platform across cloud and on-premises clinical environments.
- Maintain and improve our AI inference infrastructure, ensuring high availability through proactive monitoring and rapid incident response.
- Develop and maintain backend services that power Nuclarity and future products.
- Optimize DICOM gateway connectivity with hospital IT systems for smooth, secure data integration.
- Own parts of our deployment pipeline: installation, configuration, and reliable operation in production clinical settings.
- Contribute to our Integrated Management System (ISO 27001 / QMS) in areas related to software development and infrastructure.
What We're Looking For
- 3+ years of software engineering experience with an entrepreneurial mindset. You take ownership, move fast, and thrive in a startup environment where the job description is never the full story.
- Strong full-stack systems thinking. You can reason across backend, infrastructure, and data layers, and you know how to get things done in the age of AI-assisted coding.
- Hands-on experience with AWS and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
- Solid backend development experience. Designing APIs, managing services, and working close to the metal when needed.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB or similar), schema design, query optimization, and data migrations.
- Comfortable with containerized deployments using Docker, and familiar with orchestration (Kubernetes or ECS).
- Experience with observability tooling, logging, metrics, and alerting in production environments.
- Comfortable being a first responder when things break. You diagnose fast and communicate clearly.
- Strong critical thinker: you question assumptions, push back when something doesn't add up, and hold yourself to a high bar. In a regulated medical environment, cutting corners isn't an option.
- Excellent written and verbal English, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
- You believe in what we're building. This matters.
Bonus points for: experience with DICOM, medical imaging systems, or hospital IT integration.
What We Offer
- Real impact. Shape the technical foundation of a MedTech startup redefining nuclear medicine.
- Ownership. Work directly with the CTO with genuine autonomy over your domain.
- Meaningful work. Your code runs in hospitals and improves outcomes for real patients.
- Competitive compensation. Salary benchmarked to your experience, plus benefits tailored to your contract.
- Great team. Regular team buildings, after-work gatherings, and a culture that takes learning and fun equally seriously.
