RF/Antenna Engineer
Orbion Technologies
About Orbion
At Orbion, we are building next next-generation radar systems designed to make air and ground operations safer, smarter, and more affordable.
We are a deep-tech startup developing Silencio , a low-SWaP phased-array radar platform designed for:
-
Air-to-Air Detection, Avoidance & Tracking for autonomous and remotely operated aerial systems,
-
Ground-to-Air Detection & Monitoring for airspace awareness and critical asset protection,
-
Dual-use civil and governmental security applications.
Most radar systems today are incremental: larger antennas, higher power consumption, heavy installations, and limited adaptability.
Orbion is developing compact, intelligent radar systems that operate where Physics, RF, real-time processing, and harsh operational environments collide. Our architecture combines high performance RF circuitry, active phased-array antennas, embedded processing, and classification algorithms into scalable radar platforms.
Your Role
We are looking for an RF/Antenna Engineer to take ownership of the RF core of Silencio. This is a hands-on engineering role; you will design, build, measure, debug, iterate, and improve hardware that will be deployed at critical infrastructure sites.
You will act as a technical integrator between mechanical, FPGA, embedded software, and digital hardware engineering teams — working directly with them from bench validation through system integration and field deployment.
What You Will Build
RF Architecture & Front-End
-
Design TX/RX chains and PLL circuits,
-
Perform gain and noise budgeting,
-
Integrate LNAs, PAs, PLLs, mixers, and filters,
-
Drive RF trade-offs across performance, power, and size.
Phased-Array & Antenna Integration
-
Support antenna design activities from unit element selection to beam-steering,
-
Contribute to calibration strategies,
-
Collaborate with DSP on hardware–algorithm optimization.
Testing & Validation
-
Execute RF validation campaigns,
-
Perform S-parameter and noise measurements,
-
Develop radiated measurement setups,
-
Lead tuning and translate failures into design improvements.
Who You Are
-
You have strong analytical skills and understand EM theory,
-
You thrive on ownership and iteration (“design → test → improve”),
-
You have extremely high standards for technical excellence,
-
You are comfortable with uncertainty and early-stage challenges,
-
You want to work on technology that matters in high-stakes environments,
-
You value engineering depth over bureaucracy.
What We Offer
-
A key technical role in a fast-growing deep-tech company redefining compact radar systems in dual use applications,
-
Collaboration with world-renowned experts in radar technology, RF engineering, and applied signal processing,
-
Opportunities to present work at international conferences, demonstrations, and industry events,
-
Competitive salary based on experience,
-
Equity package possible, depending on hours committed and duration of engagement,
-
A culture where ambition, curiosity, technical excellence, and responsibility are rewarded,
-
Hybrid working possible up to 25%.
Note: Applicants must have valid work authorization in the Netherlands; visa sponsorship is not available.
