About T-Mining
Every day, thousands of containers move through the world's ports. We make sure they reach the right hands.
In 2016, one of the world's largest shipping lines came to us with a serious problem. Their staff were being physically approached by criminals trying to steal container release codes. PIN codes could be copied, passed on, stolen. The solution we built — Secure Container Release (SCR) — replaced them with something that can't be faked: a blockchain-based digital token that gives exactly one party the right to collect exactly one container.
That was the beginning. Today, SCR is trusted by three of the world's five largest shipping lines, active in more than 20 countries, connecting over 8,000 companies and processing more than 1.5 million container releases every year. In early 2025, we rolled out across all terminals of one of our key carrier partners in Poland and the UK. More markets are following.
We're a team of about 30 people, most of us based in Antwerp, working closely together across product, engineering, and commercial, backed by solid recurring revenue and a product that solves a real, global problem. We're building infrastructure that the maritime supply chain actually depends on.
Why this role exists
SCR is growing fast. What began as a secure container release tool is becoming an orchestration platform connecting carriers, terminals, forwarders and transport companies. At this scale, the quality of the UI — alignment, states, edge cases, the feel of it — is a competitive differentiator.
Today, we have a great working product with all the basic components we need for the current scope, but in an ever shifting market with new strategic opportunities we need to shift in a higher gear. We're therefore looking for a seasoned frontend engineer who raises the bar on what gets shipped — someone with real design taste and the engineering skills to back it up.
You'll bring strong opinions on UI craft, refine the designs you work from, and own the implementation quality end-to-end, and collaborate closely with product to align with strategy.
What you'll do
-
Own the SCR frontend. Build responsive, accessible UI in React, with the architecture, performance and code quality you'd expect of a senior engineer. Collaborate with backend engineers on API integration and data flows.
-
Bring design taste to every PR. You don't just implement designs literally — you spot the gaps and fix them as you build. Gaps can be very obvious - like a misaligned table, an awkward empty state, a missing loading pattern - but more importantly are the gaps that are difficult to quantify - bad UX, missing guidelines, inconsistencies, etc. Fixing those should give you an energy boost, as they are boosting the whole team.
-
Establish the design system in code. You'll define the reusable components and patterns and keep them aligned with whatever design tooling we evolve into. We have existing tooling in place, but you'll define our future toolset and process from hereonafter.
-
Bridge product and development. As our product strategy evolves, our development team must be able to keep up. Having you in the center of it all and bridging the gap will be essential for our success.
-
Raise the bar on AI-assisted ways of working. Use AI to move faster across code generation, refactoring and prototyping — and help pull the wider team's AI fluency up with you. We are hiring humans though, so we expect AI to be a powerful tool on your belt, not the only thing you have to offer.
This role is all about frontend engineering, with strong design sensibility. You own the implementation layer end-to-end. The workload on conceptual design, user research and experience strategy is shared with product (and, longer-term, potential pure design hires) — but the core of what ships is yours.
Who you'll work with
You'll sit at the centre of product and engineering:
-
You'll report to the Head of Development. Together with the Engineering Lead those 2 people will be your primary sparring partners on technology, architecture and engineering.
-
You'll collaborate closely with the Head of Product and Product Owner on the design & strategy side - getting product direction, requirements, functional analysis, etc.
-
As you'll have a defining impact on our product you'll be collaborating with the whole company, but backed by key roles so you can focus on what matters most - getting our product and user experience to the next level from a technical perspective.
Tech & tooling
We currently build our frontend in React with Material UI, and using Storybook to share and align on shared components in our UI library. Figma for design.
The overall toolchain is still quite open. You will be able to weigh in on our UI SDLC of the future - we are actively looking for a person with a well supported opinion on building modern, scalable and easy to maintain frontend applications. You'll have real influence over how we evolve our stack — state management, styling, build tooling, design system implementation, AI/non-AI workflows.
Hard requirements: strong React and Javascript and/or TypeScript skills, working proficiency in Figma (you need to live in it comfortably, even if you're not designing from scratch) and experience with building and owning production grade SaaS applications.
On AI — so we're clear
We're hiring a human, not outsourcing the role to a model. Our team is still getting used to the new paradigm and this hire should be able to weigh on our tech culture related to the topic. True creativity is the last frontier that we as humans need to protect, but picking up speed in the early stages of design exploration and stakeholder alignment is critical to our company's success.
We expect you to bring a mature opinion on the AI matter to the table - knowing when it is a tool to be used in acceleration, and when not to lean on it. Curiosity and discernment both matter. We're after real value, not hype.
Who we're looking for
Essentials
-
5–8 years primarily in frontend engineering, with React/JavaScript (or TypeScript) at the core.
-
Demonstrable design taste — you can point to shipped UI where the craft is visible and explain the choices.
-
Comfortable refining designs as you build them, not just implementing them literally.
-
Working proficiency in Figma — you can read, navigate, tweak and contribute back.
-
Strong sense of frontend fundamentals: accessibility, performance, state management, testing.
-
Experience with building SaaS applications and collaborating closely with backend developers.
-
Built or maintained a design system in code.
Bonus
-
Have done full design work in past roles (your own flows, mockups, validation).
-
Fluent with the evolving AI tooling landscape for frontend.
-
Experience in logistics, maritime or supply chain.
Who we're not looking for
If you are a designer who rarely touches code, or only does so if really needed, then this might not be a fit for you.
Our main challenges lie in aligning design and product strategy with implementation, and therefore owning the full SDLC of the implementation is the core of the role. Over time a shift to lean more towards design is possible as the development team matures, but this depends on your profile, preferences and the way we grow the rest of the team composition.

What we offer
-
The chance to own the frontend of a platform used in ports across 20+ countries — and shape the engineering standard for how UI gets built here.
-
We offer you an employment contract of indefinite duration (no contractors nor consultancy agencies).
